Helmersstraat: Jan Frederik Helmers (1767-1813), an Amsterdam estate agent who dedicated himself to literature. Among other works, he wrote ‘De Hollandse Natie’ (The Dutch nation) (1813). Until 1896, the second section of the Eerste Helmersstraat lay within the boundary of the Nieuwer-Amstel municipality and was called Hofdijkstraat.
