SSH offers two separate types of housing: Long Stay and Short Stay. Each requires its own registration, but both use the same SSH account and email address. You cannot apply for Long Stay housing with a Short Stay registration, or vice versa. Long Stay housing is registered via the national platform ROOM (one-time €35 registration fee). Homes are allocated based on registration time and usually come with campus or youth contracts. Long Stay accommodation is typically unfurnished and available in cities such as Utrecht, Rotterdam, Zwolle, Tilburg, Amersfoort, and Groningen. Short Stay housing is registered directly on the SSH website and is free to register. Homes are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis on specific booking dates, and approval from your educational institution is required. Contracts are fixed-term (up to 12 months) and the accommodation is furnished. For both types, SSH offers rooms and self-contained apartments. There is no paid subscription to access listings—any costs are related to the rental contract itself (such as rent or deposit), not to using the platform.
