Houses for Rent in Haarlem

Are you looking for a house to rent in Haarlem? A charming Dutch city with old-world charm, modern amenities, and good connectivity to Amsterdam. Families in need of more space, expats seeking a calm base, and professionals commuting to the capital will find Haarlem to be a great choice.

This guide caters to everything you need to know about the local housing market to effectively compare neighborhoods and get the right rental.

Just 15 minutes away on the train from Amsterdam, Haarlem has the perfect situation to commute with easy access to the capital without the hustle and bustle and corresponding high prices. It also links well into Schiphol Airport and other near cities, such as Rotterdam and The Hague.

Haarlem's cobbled streets, cafes with outdoor seating, and historic edifices create a feeling that is more of a small town less of a big city, with all that you would expect from a modern city-low schools, healthcare, culture, and eateries. Parks and nail-friendly streets are great for families.

In the base of your money, one is still better off in Haarlem in terms of the rent threshold of Amsterdam. There is still a lot of demand, although the competition is somewhat less potent, hence making it good ground for a renter.

Two bedrooms: €1,200-€1,800:

• 2 bedrooms: €1,200 to €1,800 per month
• Family homes for three bedrooms: €1,500 to €2,200 per month
• Big villas or historic canal houses: Over €2,500

Furnished houses: expat preference:

• Furnished houses are given preference by expats and short-term residents. Such houses are ready for immediate occupancy.
• Unfurnished houses, which are offered more predominantly, may be partly installed with minimal fixtures (not necessarily with floorings or curtains). This usually translates into better prices over time.

Tenants can expect leases with a minimum 12-month duration. A few landlords, however, provide short-term leases of 3-6 months, typically for furnished ones.

• Cons: Slightly longer commute to the city center.

Never pay before signing contract:
