Venlo apartments for rent cost 28% less than in Eindhoven, 38 minutes away by public transit, and they are larger than the Dutch city norm at 76 m² on average. The Venlo binnenstad, the old centre between the station and the Maas, has upstairs flats above the shops and newer blocks along the Maasboulevard. You walk to the Markt with its Renaissance stadhuis and to the train, which suits a commuter to Eindhoven without a car. During Vastelaovend, Limburg's carnival, the centre is loud for days, so ask the landlord how close the flat is to the Markt.

Blerick, across the Maas from the centre, mixes apartment blocks with family streets and has its own railway station. Rents for a two-bedroom apartment here are a common step up for couples who want more space than the centre gives. The bridge puts you in the centre by bike in minutes.

Tegelen, south of the centre and part of the municipality of Venlo, is quieter and greener, with fewer apartments and more houses. If you want a garden rather than a balcony, compare with houses for rent in Venlo; if you are on your own and on a budget, rooms in Venlo cost far less.
