Vianen is the northern town of Vijfheerenlanden, with a historic centre along the Voorstraat that ends at the Lekpoort city gate on the river side. For renters, Vianen is the Utrecht side of the municipality, where the A2 crosses the Lek.

Nieuwegein lies directly across the river, so rentals in Nieuwegein are the first comparison when a flat in Vianen has just gone. Both towns draw tenants who work in Utrecht, which keeps demand for apartments steady on both banks.

Leerdam is known as the Dutch glass town, home to the Nationaal Glasmuseum and a glass factory that still operates. It is the only place in Vijfheerenlanden with a railway station, on the line between Dordrecht and Geldermalsen, so a flat near the centre is the car free option of the municipality.

Gorinchem lies just west of Leerdam on the same line, so rentals in Gorinchem, a larger town in Zuid-Holland, are the natural second search for anyone set on Leerdam.
