Houses in Vijfheerenlanden at €1,800-2,200
Vijfheerenlanden offers one of the Netherlands' most compelling house rental markets for families seeking space without the Amsterdam price tag. This municipality in Utrecht province combines five historic towns into a green corridor between major cities, where detached houses with gardens rent for significantly less than urban alternatives.
The housing stock here leans heavily toward family homes, many with the gardens, parking spaces, and quiet streets that are increasingly rare in Dutch city centers. Most rental houses date from the 1970s-90s suburban expansion, offering practical layouts with separate living areas, storage space, and often garages or carports.
While you'll commute about 79 minutes to Utrecht by public transit, many renters find this trade-off worthwhile. A four-bedroom house with garden in Vianen might rent for €1,800-2,200 monthly, compared to €2,500+ for equivalent space in Utrecht's suburbs.
