Coast meets industry: Velsen's dual appeal
Velsen uniquely combines industrial employment opportunities with coastal recreation, creating a distinctive lifestyle for apartment dwellers. The municipality spans from the busy port areas to quiet residential neighborhoods just minutes from North Sea beaches.
Major employer proximity

Beach access within 10 minutes
Most Velsen apartments sit within a 10-minute drive or bike ride to the North Sea beaches. The coastal lifestyle attracts families and outdoor enthusiasts who want both career opportunities and weekend beach access without Amsterdam's premium pricing.

The area buzzes with activity but can feel industrial rather than residential.
Santpoort residential calm
Santpoort offers a more suburban apartment experience, with family-friendly complexes near the Kennemerland National Park. These flats attract households seeking green space access while maintaining reasonable commutes to both Amsterdam and Haarlem. The neighborhood feels quieter than IJmuiden, with tree-lined streets and local cafés creating a village atmosphere within the larger municipality.
Apartments near Santpoort Zuid station get you to Haarlem in 12 minutes, making them perfect if you work there but want luxury apartments in Haarlem pricing alternatives.
